Eastside Apartments, Newcastle

Starting its life as the Nursing Quarters of the Royal Newcastle Hospital and later as one of Newcastle’s oldest residential heritage buildings comprising of 37 units.

So here’s what we did.

Client: Strata Plan Cost of project: $2.9M Contract: Design & Construct Duration of project: 11 months Project Type: Residential

Scope:

  • Installation of A-Class Scaffold with Gantry
  • Removal of Asbestos Service Pipes and External Linings
  • Masonry Restoration to All Elevations Including:
    • Cavity Clean
    • Brick Pointing
    • DryFix Remedial Tie Installation
    • Reinstatement of Failed Brickwork
    • Steel Lintel Replacement
  • Concrete Repair to Edge Beams
  • Waterproofing Membrane Replaced to Rooftop Terrace’s & Laundries
  • Timber Pergola Replacement
  • Lead Flashing Replacement
  • Replacement of 18x Western Red Cedar Windows
  • Glass Balustrade Installation to Penthouses
  • Service Upgrade
  • Painting of All External Masonry, Timber and Metal Surfaces

Our remedial services included but were not limited to:

1. Repointing all external elevations of the building

2. Cavity clean out to remove debris from the cavity which was causing dampness to travel over the cavity to the internal skin of brickwork.

3. Upgrade of services

4. Lintel replacement upgrade from concrete lintels to stainless steel bars with brick infill and render

5. Window replacement throughout

6. Painting throughout.

7. Waterproofing & new roof structure to rooftop and laundries

8. Remedial wall tie installation
