Brick Repointing – Service Inclusions
What’s included in a typical DeltaCorp brick repointing package:
1. Condition inspection & report
- Visual inspection of brickwork and mortar joints (external and, where accessible, internal).
- Identification of areas with fretting, hollow joints, previous poor repairs and moisture ingress.
2. Mortar analysis & specification
- Assessment of existing mortar type (e.g. lime-based vs hard cement) and joint profile.
- Selection of a compatible mortar mix to avoid damaging softer historic bricks.
3. Dust-controlled mortar removal
- Raking out deteriorated mortar from bed and perp joints to an appropriate depth.
- Use of grinders and hand tools with dust control to reduce airborne dust and protect occupants.
4. Joint cleaning & preparation
- Brushing and/or compressed air to remove loose material from joints.
- Pre-wetting brickwork where required so bricks don’t suck the moisture out of the new mortar too quickly.
5. New mortar installation
- Placing new mortar in layers into prepared joints and compacting it for good adhesion.
- Matching the colour, texture and joint profile (flush, struck, weathered, etc.) to suit existing work or heritage character.
6. Finishing, curing & cleaning
- Final tooling of joints for a consistent finish and to shed water correctly.
- Controlled curing (especially for lime-based mortars) to reduce cracking and ensure durability.
- Gentle cleaning of the brick face once the mortar has firmed up.
7. Associated brickwork repairs (as required)
- Localised brick replacement where units are fractured, spalled or salt-damaged.
- Structural mortar repairs and crack stitching where cracks have formed along or across joints.
- Optional sealing or protective coatings (where appropriate and compatible with the brick type).
8. Access & safety
- Scaffolding, edge protection, rope access or EWPs as needed, planned around residents and building users.
9. Documentation & photos
- Before/after photos and a summary of materials used.
- Maintenance recommendations for ongoing care of repointed brickwork.
